all mad here

Its finally happened

My freakishly large apocolypse stock of garbanzo beans I bought when I thought we were having a hurricane is finally exhausted. I don't understand why I am on this ocd hummus and flatbread kick.

Resolve to Drag It Out! This Sunday

An aside- Happy Healthy New Year to Everybody. Let the pimping begin before I go off to the party

2009 is Just around the corner. Happy New Year Everybody.

Most common new year's resolutions can be upheld by coming to Drag It Out! Don't believe me, read on...

1)I resolve to do more cultural things.

How about live gender cabaret and live art by renowned lesbian artist Lissette Barros creating a tribute to everyone's favorite house arrestee, Boy George

2) I resolve to exercise more.

Why not start by shaking yo booty to the spinning stylings of DJ Meesh.
Drag it Out! is the Ideal Place to Work Up a Sweat!

3) I resolve to be more charitable/become a better person

Your $10 door fee benefits Safe Schools, Yes Institute, Animal Aid, and the GLCC - The Kids, The Animals, and the Queers will all appreciate your generosity

4) I resolve to get out there and meet new people

This is THE lesbian social event of the season baby, and the straights and the boys are welcome too. Good vibes and awesome people galore.
Its going to be a blast! Did I mention that there will be hundreds if not thousands of women there, so make your smiling face add to the beauty/handsomeness

5) I resolve to try new things

The Living Room's mixologists have created a special never before served signature drink for this very occasion called a Gender Blender.
Did I mention that you get a free cocktail with the $10 door fee?

6) I resolve to be happier

Welcome to your one night passport to the United States of Gender Euphoria, honey.

7) I resolve to be thriftier/save more money

Hello, free drink with admission, not to mention insanely awesome entertainment all for charity at a bargain basement $10 ? You could spend more money seeing a crappy holiday comedy movie. At 13 phenomenal drag acts, you are seriously spending less than 77 cents per act. That's with a cocktail, dj, and live art thrown in gratis.
Hello! 77 CENTS!!!

8) I resolve to see more beauty in the world.

Did I mention the 10 sexy kings and the hundreds if not thousands of lovely women who will be there?

9) I resolve to laugh more

Our emcees Justin Cider (Tara T) and Twat La Rouge have comedic stylings guaranteed to make even the stodgiest curmudgeon crack a smile and stifle a guffaw.

10) I resolve to drop all of the petty insignificant things in my life and become Jacques Auf's wanton sex slave

Despite the recession and lack of jobs, it seems your dream vacancy is open. The pay is bupkus, but the benefits are incredible. Ladies, see Mr Auf after the show and inquire within.

Happy New Year's Eve Everybody! Stay Safe and I hope to see everybody on Sunday at 8. You can park in the garage at the Las Olas Riverfront if parking is rough.

HAPPY YULE!

May Y'all survive the wild hunt and festive and happy Yule greetings to everyone.

I suck. With the job change and moving and stuff I did not send out Yule cards this year. I am really sorry and deserve a flogging with a wet noodle or somesuch justifiable retribution.

Happy Midsommar to those down under and to those who do not share my faith have a wonderful Saturnalia/Xmas/Hanukkah/Eid/Hari Raya/Conspicuous consumerism cultural celebration or whatever it is you do or don't celebrate at this time of year.

Drag It Out! with me on Sunday January 4

Mark your calendars for 1/4/09.

Ok, the official promo stuff will be coming out in a few weeks, but I have a firm date for the debut performance of the first class of Drag It Out!- A South Florida based pandrogyny awareness art and performance project intended to chip away at gender binaries and help good causes.

The basic premise is that ordinary people get mentored to do gender transformation performances by experienced drag kings & queens and perform for charity benefiting animals, LGBTQ causes, and the environment.

Come see me perform as my alpha-male alter ego descended from the loins of Beelzebub and a mild mannered actuary named Fran from suburban Montreal who collects precious moments figurines and likes to knit toilet paper cosies, Jacques Auf . He's filthy to the core, but sometimes filth can be *hot*... I'm not giving anything away, but I make a rather scary drag king.
I don't care who you are, Jacques Auf will make you swallow!

Jacques will be sharing the stage with I think 11 or 12 other performers, many who have a lot more talent than moi. A night of gender bending entertainment awaits, and its all for charity, so it warms your heart as well as your loins.

Its a mixed gender/orientation venue, so straight people are welcome.

Having seen some of the performances, I promise, its going to be a lot of fun

Post for S Fla locals

Ok due to last minute loss of venue, south florida edda/heathenry study is cancelled/to be rescheduled. I offered my apartment, but as people are coming from as far as Ft Pierce, the furthest south agreed to was Boca Raton. I tried to suggest things by me like One tea lounge which would be perfect, but it was a no go. Can anyone suggest a good sunday meeting place (not a bar because a few people are in recovery)for 12-15 people around boca/delray or southern palm beach county near either 95 or the turnpike? Its too hot to spend hours outside. I have no reason to ever go to Boca for any reason. A coffeehouse type place would be ideal.

I'm open to doing what we used to do with NYMAS and rent a cheap yoga or dance studio hourly. It should run no more than $5/person.

Thinking of Switching to Mac

I freaking hate windows Vista. It killed my piece o shit laptop. Anyway, I'm pretty low tech, need basic graphics, MS office, and web surfing. Anyone on the Mac standard have pros or cons to switching, besides probably losing lots and lots of data? I'm thinking of getting a powerbook in October or November as funds become available. Feedback/opinions on defecting over to apple?

I have new porn

My weekend's been crazy with family stuff. After going to my aunt's in Coral Gables I had coffee with the ever thoughtful and effervescent Rosibel, who has just spent the summer doing an eco-tourism field study in Siberia. I got pressies! The best present- A book from a hole in the wall town's museum about Shaman's Costumes in Russian and English. It has like 100 photos. Had to gloat. Its amazing, including the text. I am going back to my porn now.

Addendum: This is the ISBN 5-93765-0220-0 for Shaman's Costumes (the english title) via the administration of the irkutsk region board of culture (publisher)
